FAQ

How long have you been writing?

Since I learned how! When I learned to write in first grade, I started writing stories on that lined newsprint the teacher handed out. My father, also an aspiring writer, gave me a filing box with “Helen’s Story Box” printed on it. I kept all my stories there. I started my first novel in fifth grade, a YA romance of course.

What’s your proudest moment as a writer?

That’s a tough one. I’d have to say winning the RomCon Readers’ Crown for Ivy League Cowboy. It was up against its sequel, A Cowboy and a Gentleman, and a Harlequin book. I was antsy because Harlequin had turned down Ivy League Cowboy, so I feared I wouldn’t win against a Harlequin book. But I did!

Who are some of your favorite writers?

Tough to narrow down! Here’s an eclectic mix, in no particular order:  Lisa Kleypas, Laura Ingalls Wilder, C.S. Lewis, Khaled Hosseini, Judy Blume, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Rebecca Brandewyne, Heather Lockman,  I.J. Sarfeh, Viola Estrella, Meredith Wild, Cari Quinn, Skye Warren, Sloane Taylor, Tanya Hanson, and Cheryl Pierson…among many more!
